New Cosmic Fitness, LLC blog post-

April is just around the corner and you know what that means . . .  That's right it is allergy season.

And just in case you have forgotten some of the "tried-and-true (and often forgotten) methods of dealing with stubborn seasonal allergies," here are five for your allergy arsenal:

1) Use the Internet to:

     a) learn about the severity of your allergy problem, and

     b) track pollen counts.

2) Use a Neti Pot or Sinus Saline Rinse.

3) Get a massage.

4) Hire someone to mow your lawn.

5) Wear a  NIOSH 95 filter mask.

Good luck!!

New Cosmic Fitness, LLC blog post-

Are your food cravings slowing down your progress toward your health and fitness goals?

If so, here are my favorite new strategies from health and fitness pros:

(1) Do not deprive a sweet tooth.

(2) Do not throw away candy wrappers.

(3) "Make a collage with pictures that represent you reaching your goal—and look at it when a craving hits. Then ask yourself if having that doughnut will bring you closer to your goals." —Chris Downie, author of The Spark and founder of SparkPeople.com

(4) Eliminate all distractions while you are eating.

(5) Give up artificial sweeteners.

(6) "On a 3x5 index card, write a check every time you successfully say no to a craving. You need to do this 15 times in a row before you’ll be able to conquer any craving. On the reverse side of the card, write down some affirmations to remind yourself why you should resist."—Judith Beck, Ph.D., director of the Beck Institute of Cognitive Therapy and Research

"Food" for Thought & Action- "7 Easy Stretches To Do At Work."

New Cosmic Fitness, LLC blog post-

Is your lower back sore?  Does the area between your shoulder blades feel tight?

If so, you may have been sitting too long at your desk.  And when that occurs for nearly eight hours a day, five days a week, the toll on your body, especially your flexibility, is tremendous.

To combat these stresses, Alan Hedge, Ph.D., a professor of ergonomics at Cornell University, advises his clients to "employ the 20 - 20 rule."

"Every 20 minutes, stand for 20 seconds and stretch or shake things out. “

"Just 20 seconds away from your computer screen reduces fatigue and increases blood circulation,” says Hedge.

And every 2 hours, try to perform the series of postural correction moves and rejuvenating stretches that will make tight muscles feel great and improve your oxygen efficiency (please copy & paste the link below into your browser).
