What is a chakra?
Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel.
Chakras are "centers of spinning energy that are distributed throughout the body."
You have seven (7) principal chakras, four (4) secondary chakras, one (1) etheric chakra, eight (8) minor chakras and hundreds of lesser chakras.
Why concentrate on your chakras?
According to "several eastern schools of thought, chakras are centers of energy that correlate to major nerves; to levels of consciousness and to body functions."
Thus, Cosmic Yoga believes that if you move your body through the series of seven (7) chakra poses, you can help align the seven (7) main chakras with your spinal column
And by doing so, you can proactively affect your overall health and wellness..
Always begins at your root chakra and we deliberately work our way up to your crown chakra.
Each chakra has its own mantra, which you are encouraged to focus on while you hold the pose.
I will say the mantra out loud for you, but I will encourage you to repeat it silently to yourself as breathe in and out through your nose only.
As you breathe, we will attempt to direct your breath to the particular chakra that you are focusing on in that pose.
We will move through the chakra poses three (3) times before ending with savasana (corpse pose) to "seal up our practice."
