This article contends, and I concur, that all calories are not created equal. Therefore, I recommend eating foods that contain more lean protein and monounsaturated fats (MUFAs like olive oil, almonds and walnuts), and only eating low glycemic-index carbohydrates like: vegetables, fruit with the skin on it, brown rice, and whole grain breads & pastas. When you follow such a nutrition plan, your body actually has to use more calories from the food you are eating in order to completely break down the food that you are eating. Thus, you feel fuller longer, and you are less likely to increase the size of the portions that you eat.
